BAPTISMS
We believe baptism is a sacrament of admission and adoption that reflects the acceptance of Christ and admission into the church. Baptism symbolizes purification and new beginnings.
Baptism FAQs
-
We encourage parents/guardians to meet with the pastoral staff to discern when they would like to have their child/children baptized. We baptize individuals of any age as we believe baptism is the proclamation that we are God’s beloved children.
-
Baptism is a covenant between God, the community, and the individual being baptized. While baptism is not fully reserved for members of our church, we take our communal vows seriously in nurturing the life of the individual in their discipleship journey.

Traditionally, the baptized have worn white as a sign of forgiveness and purity. However, individuals may wear whatever they’d like.

We do baptisms at Pathways Contemporary Service (9am) and Traditional Service (11am).
We do not require that you take a class in order for your child to be baptized. If you’re interested in having your child baptized with us, or if you’re interested in being baptized, please contact associatepastor@oumcmail.com.
