This week we begin our sermon series on the five United Methodist membership vows: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. These practices form us into the people of God and draw us deeper into the path of discipleship that beckons us to follow Jesus wherever he may lead. Our first practice to explore is prayer. Prayer is a powerful act of faith and trust in God's unfailing love and concern. We are called to be a people who pray, but sometimes our words fail us and we don't know where to begin. Other times, we aren't sure what we should pray for. As we gather this Sunday let us be reminded of the transformative gift that prayer is, and let us be challenged to not only be a praying people but to be a people who are prayed for.
